The Immanuel Schools web site is a complex, multi-faceted Wordpress site with numerous features. I authored a custom Wordpress plugin for Immanuel-specific functionality, as well as implemented a design into a custom Wordpress theme. Multiple content types were required along with heavy customization of Wordpress menus and widgets.
For the UI, the site features a responisve design that fits to any mobile device. It uses server-side device detection to serve the responsive site for mobile browsers, including a drawer/hamburger menu.
One of the major components is a site-wide calendar which I modified and customized from the Timely event calendar plugin. I wrote an additional Wordpress plugin, the Wordpress Weather Wunderground plugin, which uses data pulled and cached from the Wunderground weather service API, featuring a customizable weather icon set.
The dashboard admin pages I programmed make it easy for teachers, coaches & school administrators to update site content for all grade levels (K-12). Updateable content includes class curriculum, athletics programs, events, daily bulletins, job openings, news postings and more.
Additionally, I spearheaded the technical integration of Wordpress site content with a third-party, indusrty-standard educational mobile app Straxis.
